Impact of globalization has led to consumerism, which has become a matter of concern,
especially in the case of children, because fast food and junk food is taking a
toll on their health. To raise awareness about health and safety of children we
formed a consumer club in 2013 as a part of consumer service activity. Presently
our club’s focus is to spread awareness on consumer rights which is very important
as far as the Indian society is concerned. This club was started in collaboration
with C.E.R.C (Consumer Education and Research Centre). which is a leading consumer
rights organization in India. CERC is a nonprofit, non-government body, dedicated
to the protection and promotion of consumer interests through active use of research,
media, law, advocacy and information dissemination. CERC provides us financial support
as well as guidelines. Initially we started with a group of 50 students under the
able leadership of our teacher Mr. Manan Shah. At present the club comprises of
91 students from std. 8 and 9.

Butterflies-these wispy little winged creatures have always fascinated most of us.
But pollution and decrease in green cover have caused a decline in the population
of butterflies. To help these bio-indicators, the students and teachers together
created a butterfly park in the school campus.
This has now become a live resource for the study of butterfly life-cycle. Our butterfly
garden project got silver and gold- medals by PRAMERICA spirit of community award.
Due to the continuous effort of our club members our school is frequented by an
average of 23 species of butterflies which has also lead to a drastic increase in
the biodiversity of our school.
Activities undertaken by the club
- Maintenance of garden.
- Beautification of garden by planting more host and nectaring plants.
- Awareness drive.
Organizing ‘Green Week’ in the school.
Techno Club
The objective of the techno club is to help students to use the internet judiciously.
They learn visual effects, 3d animation and cartoon movie making. They are updated
about the latest technology news. They also learn how to protect themselves from
social media frauds and deal with issues related to cybercrimes like bullying and
online harassment.
We have also introduced TCS LAUNCHPAD- a course on basics of programming for C++
and Python Technologies for classes VIII to X.
Philately Club
Postage stamps, coins and currency notes have a great educative potential. With
an aim to encourage philately hobby among children, Rachana School started the Philately
Club that conducts a range of activities that include talks by experts, competitions,
discussions, projects and exhibitions in collaboration with Department of Post and
Philatelists. Interested students from classes VI onwards hold philatelic deposit
accounts with the Postal Department and receive commemorative stamps to add to their
collection. Philatelic activities enrich the students with knowledge about Indian
traditions, eminent personalities, heritage and the wealth of flora and fauna.
ArtIQ Club
Rachana School’s “ArtIQ Club” makes an attempt to build in students a foundation
in art. There is a focus on developing aesthetic sense in students. They learn to
appreciate the artistic perspective of things around them which also enhances their
visualisation power. This learning gets translated into creativity at its best.
Heritage Club
The heritage club ‘Virasat’ has been started under the aegis of CBSE and INTACH
(Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) to create awareness and a
sense of belonging among students and inculcate in young minds the need for conserving
our heritage. Activities like visits to museums, visit and adoption of stepwells,
poster making, essay writing, quiz and many more are organised to achieve this end.
Music Club
The club strives to encourage students’ participation to bring out their musical
abilities and talents and to provide an outlet for those interested in vocal music.
It gives them an opportunity to tap their latent talent. This exposure will help
children to understand and appreciate Indian classical music.
